Product Description

Product Overview
The perfect addition to Keysight's noise figure solutions is the Keysight 346A noise source. It does not require many sources in various frequency bands because it is broadband (10 MHz to 18 GHz). By minimizing test signal reflection, the noise source's low SWR lowers measurement uncertainty. The extremely tiny change in reflection coefficient (<0.01) from ON to OFF is specifically made to accurately characterize devices that are sensitive to input impedance, such as GaAsFETs and several UHF amplifiers.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the frequency operating range of the Keysight 346A noise source?

The Keysight 346A operates across a wide broadband frequency range spanning from 10 MHz to 18 GHz, eliminating the requirement for multiple noise sources across different measurement bands.

Why is the Keysight 346A ideal for impedance-sensitive devices?

It features an exceptionally small change in reflection coefficient (<0.01) from its ON to OFF states along with a low VSWR (<1.3:1). This minimal reflection variance accurately characterizes devices sensitive to input impedance changes, such as GaAsFETs and UHF amplifiers.

How does the Keysight 346A differ from the 346B and 346C models?

The Keysight 346A provides a lower nominal ENR of 6 dB (with 4.5 to 6.5 dB range) and a strictly specified reflection coefficient difference (≤ 0.01). The 346B and 346C have a nominal 15 dB ENR, and the 346C extends coverage up to 26.5 GHz.

Which analyzer platforms are compatible with the Keysight 346A?

The Keysight 346A is fully compatible with NFA, ESA - E Series, PNA - X, PSA Series, and X-Series analyzers (including PXA, MXA, EXA, and CXA).

What connectors are equipped on the Keysight 346A noise source?

The noise source is equipped with a 3.5 mm (male) RF output connector and a BNC (female) input bias connector.

Can the Keysight 346A be used directly for Keysight 8970A/B IF attenuator calibration?

No, the 346A is not directly usable for 8970A IF attenuator calibration (requiring 10 dB of additional gain) and requires specific procedures outlined in the 8970B manual, unlike the 346B and 346C models.
