Product Description

Product Overview

The perfect addition to Keysight's noise figure solutions is the Keysight 346A noise source. It does not require many sources in various frequency bands because it is broadband (10 MHz to 18 GHz). By minimizing test signal reflection, the noise source's low SWR lowers measurement uncertainty. The extremely tiny change in reflection coefficient (<0.01) from ON to OFF is specifically made to accurately characterize devices that are sensitive to input impedance, such as GaAsFETs and several UHF amplifiers.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the operating frequency range of the Keysight 346A noise source?
The Keysight 346A noise source provides broadband performance covering frequencies from 10 MHz to 18 GHz, eliminating the requirement for multiple sources across separate frequency bands.
Why is the low SWR important in the Keysight 346A?
The low SWR (less than 1.3:1) minimizes test signal reflections, which significantly lowers measurement uncertainty during noise figure characterization.
How does the reflection coefficient differ between ON and OFF states?
The change in reflection coefficient from ON to OFF is specified to be no greater than 0.01 (<0.01), specifically designed to accurately characterize devices highly sensitive to input impedance changes, such as GaAsFETs and UHF amplifiers.
What instrument series are compatible with the Keysight 346A?
The Keysight 346A works seamlessly with Keysight NFA, ESA - E Series, PNA - X, PSA Series, and X-Series analyzers (PXA, MXA, EXA, and CXA).
How does the 346A differ in nominal ENR from the 346B and 346C models?
The Keysight 346A features a nominal ENR of 6 dB over its specified frequency range, whereas both the Keysight 346B and Keysight 346C models provide a nominal ENR of 15 dB.
What are the physical dimensions and weight of the Keysight 346A?
The Keysight 346A has a compact net weight of 0.1 kg (3.5 oz.) and physical dimensions of 140 × 21 × 31 mm (5.5 × 0.8 × 1.2 inches).
